Project Design and Development

Who would buy something they can’t see first? Mark of Excellence Remodeling offers a refreshing and unique approach to design + build remodeling. Projects can range from $1,000,000 whole house remodels to re-siding the front of a home. What do these projects have in common? They all start with a computer aided design from the staff at Mark of Excellence Remodeling.

A common industry problem is that many contractors have a sales person, a designer, a draftsperson, and an estimator. These are most often three or four different people and not all directly employed by the company. This generally leads to delays in development, confusion as to the actual pricing, and a misleading scope of work for the project.

At Mark of Excellence Remodeling this is done by one point person that has extensive training in all those fields. Each member of our design staff can accurately and efficiently put together a complete project for you. Also with each design adjustment there is an immediate adjustment in the detailed pricing so the client can make an informed, value decision on the design eliminating any unpleasant extra charges coming up later in the process.

Design firms, separate of remodeling contractors, charge large fees for concept drawings. While the fees are warranted, the homeowner pays for these before truly knowing what the complete investment will be for the entire project. Some contractors offer designs for free. Having seen some of these “free” designs, I feel they may be over-priced.

Mark of Excellence Remodeling, the 2009 Northeast US Remodeler of the Year, suggests that you hire a professional contractor if you want professional results. If a homeowner wants one point of accountability regarding all aspects of design, development, and production of a remodeling project to seek out an accomplished design + build firm local to your area that handles all aspects.

Do you want a design and development process that makes the most sense for both the homeowner and remodeler? Do you want this without signing a contract and investing thousands of dollars?

Homeowners Invest in Energy Efficiency While Updating Their Exterior

Our client in Howell, contacted us after reading an Asbury Park Press article about our design process.   Initially, they wanted to repair their front landing and steps.  While at their home, they asked for our some pricing options and design suggestions for updating their colonial style home’s exterior.  We suggested a combination of stone and vinyl siding, new garage and entry doors, and a color scheme that would coordinate with their new roof and energy efficient windows.  The homeowners were thrilled with the ideas, comfortable with the price range, and, after further research about our company, confident with us.

We began to develop concept drawings and select material.  In addition to the repair, the client chose a siding product with a contoured insulation material that qualifies for a Government Tax Credit of $1500.00.  In addition to the credit, the client will be able to to save money on their heating and cooling bills for years to come.  The garage and entry doors are also Energy Star approved, adding to the home’s thermal efficiency and future savings.  After assessing the project, the tax credit, and anticipated monthly savings, the client has added a new driveway and front portico to the renovation.

Before pictures and concept drawings are below, and I can’t wait to start adding the construction and after pictures!
