Follow these simple steps to optimizing your outdoor space and creating an environment that will make your neighbors jealous! Small or large- you have come to the right place for advice!

1. Be realistic. Consider the size of your outdoor space. The last thing you will want to do is over clutter a small space, which will only make it look smaller. Therefore, work with what you have. If you have a small space, you should have small furniture, potted plants and a compact barbeque. However, if you have a large space, feel free to add an oversized umbrella, lawn chairs, a barbeque and an outdoor refrigerator to your space.

2. Color. One of the most important aspects of a visually appealing outdoor space is the color scheme. For any size patio you should use dominantly neutral colors (grey, cream, tan) with bright accents such as bright blue pots for your plants, or patterned seat cushions. However, make sure you keep your colored accents matching. You want your patio to be calming, not overly busy.

3. Lighting. Place your light fixtures (preferably lanterns) close to the table and the barbeque. They should be placed on the fence or on the siding of the house (or both). Consider wrought iron if your table and chairs are the same. If not, go with a neutral, inconspicuous color. For a party friendly atmosphere, don’t forget the tiki torches!

4. Deck. A deck is a great way to make your patio more appealing. Be sure to search online for a reputable contractor who can give you that picture perfect deck at a reasonable price.

5. Price considerations. Again, be realistic and shop within your budget. Get the items you need first, then splurge on the outdoor refrigerator. Don’t be afraid to grab some paint to polish up any dull looking aspects of your patio. And remember, there are many great inexpensive contractors out there who can help.
